And, our very first engagement/wedding present, from my dear friend Kayla Nuby. Aren’t these ADORABLE!?

I’m so, so in love with this man. I spent some time typing up our story the other day, so, rather than rewriting or pasting it: to read about our love story and engagement, you can read it here on our wedding website!

Angie and I met in my New Testament class last semester at school. (By the way, she and I are both now official Southern Seminary graduates! Whoop!) Before class one day as I was flippin’ through my Google Reader looking at photography blogs, the wedding images I was looking at caught her eye. The second time we ended up sitting next to each other, she said that she didn’t want to sound like a stalker, but she wondered what photographers I was looking at, for she was interested in getting some photos of her and her man. I said, oh well, they are mostly all these famous people out in California and elsewhere… and then, timidly… “but, I, um, I actually am, um, a photographer myself…if you might… you know… be interested in seeing my stuff?” <sheepish grin>

Well, since that time, Angie and I have been good buddies and she rejoiced with me when I got engaged to the man of my dreams… and I celebrated with her as she and Phillip began to make future plans. The two met through a mutual friend, and though Phillip lives out on the East Coast, they have made this thing work. He flew to the ‘ville to see his lady graduate, and so we were able to play around in the park and have a good ol’ time. Phillip– even though you don’t like feet– this image was too cool not to shoot. Sorry

Ever since we began talking about ideas for her shoot, Angie was totally flexible– but she would always manage to throw in something about her “cuddling with her man under a tree.” I knew we had to work a tree in somehow… and though tree shots can often be a little overdone, I found this tree which was TO DIE FOR, dontcha agree?

Girl– you SO worked it. I just kept telling Phillip what a gorgeous lady he got. And… as for this pose– it was totally HIS idea! It came out so, so fun! Way to go Phillip!

Okay seriously… does Angie not have the greatest smile EVER?!

Hee hee. Thanks for being a good sport guys… and putting up with all my crazy ideas!!

Anyways, Katie and Shawn are a great couple… and they were totally willing to do whatever crazy thing I asked of them (like go on the other side of this wall and make fish faces!) Thanks for a super fun shoot, guys!

Making awesome photos like this: I had a blast with you guys! Can’t wait to get to work on the other images!

My photos reversed their order somehow, so we will begin with the end of the shoot. You might notice Ben looking a little *cold-ish* in some of these pictures. Well, it was like negative 100 degrees out there or something… but really… I couldn’t complain… I had a beautiful snow, a couple in love, and Cara sporting a black and white houndstooth coat with a bright red scarf. Sooo pretty!

Are these images not just so perfectly classic? Come on– street lamps with garland and red bows?! Could my job get any easier!!

I’m a bit notorious for making my models put on their “sassy faces.” Though they were grinning for most of the shoot, these two pretty much rocked it here with the serious looks!

We are actually in Davenport, IA for all of these outdoor images. We began in the Lagomarcino’s store in Davenport (images below) and all of these great outdoor spots were in a park and along the street near the store. Below they pose by the fire station

Dave and Emily are both from the South and thus when I asked how they would like to style the shoot, they told me that maybe it could be a little bit *southern* (although Dave had to clarify that he did not mean Southern as in the Southern Seminary we both attend/ed). So, we headed out to a local park.. and though the weather was ominous and threatening, we got some cute ones before the rain came down!

I love the look of the trees in this next shot. So romantic. It reminds me of Pride and Prejudice or something… And Dave (especially with that hair) could be Mr. Darcy (wait, that IS from P&P right? forgive me.. im so not a girl in that respect… i do not know my Jane Austen… )

I think this next one would be so awesome on a big canvas…

Even though we obviously had a very rural feel to most of this shoot… I couldn’t resist finding some rough walls, rusty objects, and adding a little grunge
