She is beautiful on the inside and out, and just full of joy. There’s much I could say about a friend like her. I’m just thrilled I got to capture her beauty in the way that I know best. Shannon’s 30th Bday

My amazing friend Shannon had a very special birthday. So, in cahoots with her supersonic planning boyfriend, we whipped up a party to celebrate our dear friend. We had a DJ and dancing (Shan’s favorite.) We had a life size color-it-in Shannon. We had a scrapbook for people to sign, a million desserts, champagne toasts in Shannon’s honor, a video slideshow, and I set up a photobooth with the obligatory ridiculous props.

We started the evening with a small girls dinner at the Grape Leaf, and then transported Shannon to her super secret birthday surprise.

Every birthday girl needs a crown and a glow necklace, dontcha think?

We love you Shannon. I already used up all my sappiness in your speech, but you are one of the best friends I could ever imagine. Love you.

Susannah + Noah

“Mommy, what’s her name?” Noah said from his carseat in the back. “Her name is Jessica, Noah.” As Noah started saying my name over and over again, in his sweet little almost-three year old voice, I took this as my cue to start priming him for our evening photoshoot. He said he was all in to get his picture taken, and he and his aunt Lindsey had been practicing “saying cheese” all day long. But, once we actually got out of the car, there was a pond to stick our feet in! And a wall to climb on! And bubbles to be blown! There was no slowing down this little boy on the move. And that was just the way I liked it. So, even though we all got hot and sweaty in the unreal temperatures, chasing our little buddy around, I love these images we captured that document the sweet relationship between a little boy and his mommy.

Most of the time, Noah was very sweet to give his mommy kisses, but just like any little boy, sometimes you have to run away from mom kisses and laugh as she attacks you with them!

We found horses!!

The sweet girl who was with the horses walked them over and even let Noah feed them some treats. He was so brave! His hand is all up in that horses mouth!

Presents for mommy!

This next one just makes me think of the adventure of boyhood.

I told you it was hot outside. Look at sweet Noah’s little pink cheeks!

We played hard! Time to take this sleepy boy home to bed!

Caldwell Family : Louisville Photography

Just LOOK at this adorable family! Cathy and Dirk won a session with me from an auction I donated to with Kentucky Refugee Ministries. The older twowere adopted from Cambodia, and the youngest from China. This is a family with a heart for the world, and I loved spending time with them. Lee and I hope to do adopt at some point, too, so it is extra special for me to get to spend time with awesome families like the Caldwells.

These two are twins. Look at those smiles!

I asked Cadin what he liked to do. When the first thing that popped out of his mouth was “gymnastics” I told him to have at it!

It is springtime in Kentucky, and the dandelions are poking up everywhere. The girls LOVED blowing out the “wishflowers” (I think that’s what they called them), and their brother loved to kick the puffballs and aggravate his sisters. The girls were very concerned that he was going to kick them all and that there would be none left for them to blow. There was no way this was going to happen, seeing as there were hundreds, so I got a big kick out of the sibling drama.

I told them to race.

Look at these little models– I did not even tell them to do this, and look at the poses they struck!

Family pyramid! Soo funny.

The twins just turned 10 in March. Double digits!

Bridges and Babies: Wilmore, KY

Saturday I drove over to the little town of Wilmore, where I rendezvoused with some of my good college friends. We played with the babies, and headed out to see this ginormous bridge, over this ginormous gorge that contains the Kentucky River. The weather was beautiful, and we had a most excellent time. There’s also a video at the bottom!

And, the boys are still on the bridge…

It was windy. Just a little.

Guys, I love you. It was so great to spend the day together.

Alicia is a friendtographer (which is a word I believe that she coined) You can find Alicia’s beautiful work over at Aesthetiica. She drove up from Campbellsville, KY yesterday and we spent a few hours shooting and shopping (both things that make us very happy.) In addition to some fun new clothes from the ginormous new Forever 21 store (seriously… I got disoriented in there, it is so huge!) we also got these beautiful portraits made. Malloy Kiddos

This post is a teensy bit untimely, because it is photos of TWO Malloy children, and there are in fact, now, (but weren’t at the time of the taking of these) THREE Malloy children. Bummer. I have no photos of sweet baby Ada. And their momma was in class this day we were hanging out… so I got a few sweet ones of kiddos and super dad.

Huey Family Portraits

Introducing: The Huey Family. They are awesome. You might remember my little blue eyed boyfriend Henry from other posts. Well, the family moved to Alabama for a little while, and I thought my stint of stealing photos of the little man was over. Much to my delight and surprise, they moved back! We snagged a family session together at Anchorage Park, a place they love to roam. Payton led the way, pointing to spots we had to go and trying out poses she wanted to do for me. It was a blast.

Yes. He has a mohawk.

The progression of the portrait: 1) Fairly normal, except Henry won’t look at me for anything. 2) Henry starts a grass fight with his sister. 3) “Go jump on Mom and Dad!” 4) Henry hams it up by rolling off, quite dramatically.

This next one was, if you can’t tell, toward the end of the shoot. Children were getting tired of smiling pretty and looking at the camera. So this is what I got. And I love it.

Henry is kind of my little boyfriend. And I love it. He held my hand, and I just can’t get enough of those big blue eyes.
